During the initial stages of the project, the art direction was lacking. Having started the design of the identity computer-first, the liveliness that Mission Boricua was striving for began to feel dull and overproduced. Attempting to imitate the textures and brushes of paint solely through a digital medium left much to be desired.
The project called for another attempt, this time with, brushes, and paint. The explorations went beyond typical analogue tools and even employed broken pieces of plastic and a pair of torn up, paper 3d glasses. The mark itself ended up being hand painted as well, along with secondary elements and textures.
