United Farm Workers Celebration
After graduation, Julio Martínez, the teacher I would consider to be my mentor (despite never having the brass to tell him that to his face), reached out to me and a couple of my other colleagues from school. We were asked to create artworks representing the a United Farm Workers movement in celebration of César Chávez day. I chose to illustrate portraitures of the major players in the farm workers movement: César Chávez, Dolores Huerta, and Larry Itliong. I chose the color and styling of the iconic UFW flag.

The last piece I did was more of a story, or better, an attempt to capture what the movement was really about. I made a connection between the people who tirelessly work the fields, and the food we take for granted. No workers, no food.
